On Friday 25 August 2017, at Port Augusta Royal Flying Doctor Service Base, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Base Manager, Mr Phil Moran, viewed the facilities and were briefed on operations.
In the afternoon, onboard HMAS Stirling, Fleet Base West, Fremantle, the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove attended the HMAS Stirling Ceremonial Divisions, at which the Governor-General presented the Gloucester Cup to the Commanding Officer, HMAS Rankin, Commander Michael Jacobson CSM RAN on behalf of the Ship’s Company.
Afterwards, at the Coolibah Total Caring Services Aged Care Facility, Mandurah, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer, Ms Merinda March, viewed the facilities and met with staff and residents.
In the evening, at the Sebel Hotel, Mandurah, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of the City of Mandurah Council, Mayor Marina Vergone, attended a civic reception.
