Port Vila, Vanuatu; Canberra, ACT

On Wednesday 21 June 2017, at Vanuatu National Parliament, Port Vila, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), following the passing of the President of the Republic of Vanuatu, the late Womtelo Reverend Baldwin Lonsdale, conveyed the condolences of the Government and people of Australia to the acting President of the Republic of Vanuatu, His Excellency the Honourable Esmon Saimon; and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Vanuatu, the Honourable Charlot Salway and other members of the Republic of Vanuatu Executive and Government.

Afterwards, the Governor-General attended the State funeral service in honour of the late Womtelo Reverend Baldwin Lonsdale.

In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General met with students from Albany Creek State School, NSW; and St Brigid’s Primary School, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra
