Rarotonga, Cook Islands; Port Vila, Vanuatu

On Wednesday 28 June 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley were farewelled by His Excellency Sir Tom Marsters KBE, King's Representative to the Cook Islands and and Lady Tuaine Marsters.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Rarotonga, Cook Islands, to Port Vila, Vanuatu.

On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley were met by Her Excellency Ms Heidi Bootle, Australian High Commissioner to Vanuatu and representatives of the Government of the Republic of Vanuatu.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with His Excellency Nikenike Vurobaravu, President of the Republic of Vanuatu.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with the Honourable Mr Alatoi Ishmael Kalsakau, Prime Minister of the Republic of Vanuatu.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Chief Willie Plasua, met with the Malvatumauri National Council of Chiefs.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Her Excellency Ms Heidi Bootle, attended an afternoon tea and met with staff at the Australian High Commission.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Her Excellency Ms Heidi Bootle, attended a reception with His Excellency Nikenike Vurobaravu; Vanuatu Ministers and Members of Parliament; and members of the Australian community.
