Reception and Investiture Ceremony at Stoke Lodge in London

In London, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce met Australian surf lifesavers who were involved in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant during a reception hosted by the Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr John Dauth AO LVO, at Stoke Lodge.

The Governor-General also met Australian Defence Force Navy personnel who were aboard a British naval vessel, which accompanied the Royal Barge during the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.

Later, Ms Bryce officially appointed Mr Richard Bonynge AC CBE as a Companion in the Order of Australia during an Investiture Ceremony at Stoke Lodge. Ms Bryce also invested Dr George Michell AM, Mr William Dalglish OAM, and Mr David Mearns OAM (Honorary).

Before the ceremony, Australian indigenous performer Mr Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu performed two songs, before appearing at the BBC’s Diamond Jubilee Concert.
