Royal Australian Air Force 91st Anniversary; Royal Botanical Gardens; Friends of the Sydney International Piano Competition Australia; Ceremonial Welcome Samoa; Parliament of Samoa; State Lunch Samoa; SENESE School for Children with Disabilities; Australian Pacific Technical College; Reception for Senior Samoan Women; Reception for Australian Volunteers in Samoa
On Friday 30 March 2012, at the Cenotaph, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, as guest of the President of the Australian Flying Corps and Royal Australian Air Force Association (NSW Division), Squadron Leader Gordon Johnstone OAM (Ret'd), attended the Royal Australian Air Force 91st Anniversary Commemorative Service and Wreath laying, at which the Administrator gave an address and laid a wreath.
Afterwards, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator received a Call from His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester and the Consul General of the United Kingdom, Mr Richard Morris.
Later, at Government House, the Administrator received school students from the New South Wales Department of Education and Training ‘School Leaders Program’.
Then, at the Maiden Theatre, Royal Botanical Gardens, the Administrator as a guest of the President of the Friends of the Botanic Gardens, Mr Raoul de Ferranti, launched Botanica 2012 – ‘The Masters and Moore Exhibition’ and announced the winners of the Margaret Flockton Award for Scientific Botanical Illustration.
In the evening, at Government House, the Administrator, as a guest of the Friends of the Sydney International Piano Competition Australia, attended a recital of the Pianist Mr Evengy Ukhanov.
Earlier, at State House, Apia, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, attended a ceremonial welcome and met with the Head of State of Samoa, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi.
Afterwards, at Parliament House, Apia, the Governor-General, as guest of the Prime Minister of Samoa, Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Maliegaloai, addressed the Parliament of Samoa.
Later, at the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, the Governor-General, as guest of the Head of State and Prime Minister of Samoa, attended a State Lunch hosted in her honour.
Then, the Governor-General met with the Prime Minister of Samoa.
In the afternoon, at the Special Needs Education Society (SENESE) School for children with disabilities, the Governor-General, as guest of the Principal, Ms Donna Lene, and Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Services, Mr Leota Laki Sio, met with students, teachers and Australian volunteers, and officially opened the Vision Services Centre.
Later, at the Australian Pacific Technical College (APTC), the Governor-General, as guest of the Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, Mr Magele Mauiliu Magele, Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Samoa, Dr Le’apai Asofou So’o and APTC Campus Manager, Ms Francis Howes, met with students and staff and presented a Group Bravery Citation.
In the evening, at Aggie Grey’s Hotel, the Governor-General hosted a reception for senior Samoan women.
Afterwards, the Governor-General hosted a reception for Australian volunteers in Samoa.
