Sandakan Day Memorial Service; ???Blood Brothers' book launch; Memorial of Chinese Martyrs; St Michael's Anglican Church; Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary; Reception hosted by the Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah

On Sunday 15 August 2010, at The Cenotaph, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE attended a Victory in the Pacific Day Commemoration Service at which the Administrator laid a wreath.

In the afternoon, in Woollahra, Sydney, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas attended a ceremony at which the Administrator officially opened the newly refurbished Wolper Jewish Hospital.

Afterwards, at Barker College, Hornsby, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas attended a ceremony at which the Administrator officially opened a new teaching facility to mark the 120th anniversary of Barker College.

Earlier, at Sandakan Memorial Park, Malaysia, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE represented the Government and the people of Australia at the Sandakan Day Memorial Service to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Sandakan Death Marches.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General launched the book, Blood Brothers.

Later, at the Memorial to the Chinese Martyrs, Sandakan, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General laid a wreath.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of Reverend Chin Kah Jin, visited St Michael’s Anglican Church.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of Officer in Charge, Ms Sylvia Alsisto, visited Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary.

In the evening, at Sabah Hotel, Sandakan, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a reception hosted in their honour by the Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Peter Pang.
