School Leaders Program; Catania War Cemetery; Reception for local Sicilian representatives with links to Australia

On Friday 3 June 2011, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO hosted the New South Wales Department of Education and Training’s School Leaders Program.

Afterwards at the Quirinal Palace, Rome, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, met with the President of the Italian Republic, His Excellency Mr Georgio Napolitano.

Later, at the Catania War Cemetery, Sicily, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, accompanied by the Director of the Western Mediterranean Area Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Mr Alan Jarvis, laid a wreath and met with members of the Australian Federation Guard.

In the evening, at Hotel Imperiale, Taormina, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Australian Ambassador to Italy, His Excellency Mr David Ritchie AO, attended a reception with local government officials and prominent local citizens with links to Australia.
