Service to commemorate the loss of HMAS AE1; Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron Sailing Season Opening Day

On Sunday 14 September 2014, at Garden Island, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, attended a service to commemorate the loss of HMAS AE1, at which the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove laid a wreath.

Afterwards, at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, Kirribilli, the Governor-General, as Commodore-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Commodore, Mr Malcolm Levy, attended the annual Sailing Season Opening Day, at which the Governor-General fired the ceremonial gun salute.

Later, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the arrival in Australia of the Governor-General of Solomon Islands, His Excellency Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui, by Group Captain Michael Gray ADC, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

Then, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Kiribati, His Excellency the Honourable Anote Tong MP, by Commander Theodore Wynberg ADC RAN, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
