The Shed; Men’s Health Information and Research Centre; John Morony Correctional Complex; Dillwynia Correction Centre; Chief Justices and Justices of the High Court Dinner
On Wednesday 15 October 2014, at Mount Druitt, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Foundation Chair in Primary Health Care, University of Western Sydney, Professor John MacDonald, met with volunteers, service providers and Indigenous clients at ‘The Shed’.
Afterwards, at the University of Western Sydney, Hawkesbury Campus, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Professor John MacDonald, visited the Men’s Health Information and Research Centre and received a briefing on the Jumna Wal program.
Later, at the John Morony Correctional Complex, Windsor, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Commissioner of Corrective Services NSW, Commissioner Peter Severin, met with male inmates at the metal workshop and powder coating room who were participating in vocational training programs. Then, at the Dillwynia Correction Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with female inmates participating in vocational training programs in information technology. Afterwards, at the ‘Buy Up’ Distribution Centre, Dillwynia Correction Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with female inmates participating in vocational training programs in logistics. As part of the visit, the Governor-General presented an inmate with her Certificate III in Logistics.
In the evening, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a dinner for the Chief Justice and Justices of the High Court of Australia. Guests included: the Honourable Justice Virginia Bell AC; the Honourable Justice Susan Crennan AC; the Honourable Chief Justice Robert French AC and Mrs Valerie French; the Honourable Justice Stephen Gageler SC and Mrs Carla Gageler; the Honourable Justice Kenneth Hayne AC and the Honourable Justice Michelle Gordon; the Honourable Justice Patrick Keane and Dr Shelley Keane; and the Honourable Justice Susan Kiefel AC.
