Shoalwater Bay, Queensland

On Monday 15 July 2019, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Major General Justin Ellwood DSC, Commander, Deployable Joint Force Headquarters, visited military elements participating in Exercise Talisman Sabre 2019.

In the morning, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with officers and soldiers from the 1^st Brigade, commanded by Brigadier Matthew Pearse AM ADC.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley had lunch at Williamson Airfield with Army and Air Force personnel operating with 383 Squadron, commanded by Wing Commander Alan Brown.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with officers and sailors on board HMAS Parramatta, commanded by Commander Troy van Tienhoven RAN.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to Canberra.
