State Lunch for the President of the Republic of Cyprus; Penrith versus South Sydney National Rugby League game

On Monday 30 May 2011, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE received the Australian High Commissioner to Cyprus, Mr Evan Williams.

Afterwards, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas received the President of the Republic of Cyprus, His Excellency Mr Demetris Christofias and Mrs Elisavet Christofia.

In the afternoon, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas hosted a State Lunch for the President of the Republic of Cyprus and Mrs Christofia. Guests included: His Excellency Mr Yannis Iacovou and Mrs Maria Iacovou; Mr Evan Williams; Mr Stefanos Stefanou; Mrs Ioanna Malliotis; His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos; The Reverend Father Kyrillos Zisis; Dr Stepan Kerkyasharian AO; Mr Michalis Christodoulou AM; Emeritus Professor J R Green; Associate Professor Paul McKechnie; Dr Chris Barker; Dr Alastair Blanshard; Mr Panayiotis Achilleos; Mr Kypros Giorgallis; Mr Andreas Hadjithemistos; Mr James Wakim; and Mr Andreas Kyriacou.

Afterwards, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas received from the Australian Supporters for Democracy in Iran Mr Mohammad Sadeghpour, Mr Peter Murphy, Dr Meredith Burgmann and Mr Stephen Pitt-Walker .

Later, the Administrator received the Office Bearers of the Australian Club.

In the evening, at Penrith Stadium, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas attended the Chairman’s Club Dinner at the Penrith Panthers versus South Sydney Rabbitohs National Rugby League game.

Earlier, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, by Colonel Allan Murray CSM ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
