State Visit to China, Beijing Program

On Monday 30 March 2015, at the China World Hotel, China, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chair of AustCham Beijing, Ms Tracy Colgan, attended a AustCham breakfast and met with representatives of the Australian and New Zealand business community.

Afterwards, at the Australian Embassy, Beijing, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, met with New Colombo Plan scholars.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with representatives of the Australia-China education and science relationship.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a rose planting ceremony and met with Australian Embassy staff and their families.

Afterwards, at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, the Governor-General met with the Chair of the National People’s Congress, His Excellency Mr Zhang Dejiang.

Later, the Governor-General met with the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr Li Keqiang.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr Xi Jinping, attended a ceremonial welcome.

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with President Xi.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a State Banquet hosted in their honour by President Xi and Madame Peng Liyuan.
