State Visit to the People’s Republic of China

On Tuesday 22 October 2013, in Chengdu, China, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Director of the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, visited the centre.

Afterwards, at the Jinjiang Hotel, the Governor-General attended a meeting with the Sichuan Province Party Secretary, Mr Wang Dongming.

Later, at the Sichuan University East Huaxi Campus, the Governor-General, as guest of the Executive Vice President of Sichuan University, Mr Li Hong, and the General Manager of Cochlear Greater China, Mr Brendan Mason, received a briefing on Cochlear and watched a demonstration of the mapping of a child’s Cochlear device.

Then, at the Shangri-La Hotel, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce received the Governor-General of Canada, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, and Her Excellency Mrs Sharon Johnston.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of Mr Wang, attended the opening banquet for the West China International Fair.
