State Visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar

On Tuesday 5 November 2013, at the President’s Office, Nay Pyi Taw, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, His Excellency U Thein Sein and Daw Khin Khin Win, attended a ceremonial welcome.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with the President.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the President and Daw Khin Khin Win, attended a State Lunch hosted in their honour.

Then, at the Rule of Law Committee Building, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, met with the Chairperson, National League for Democracy and Chairperson, Committee for the Rule of Law, Peace and Tranquility, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi MP.

Afterwards, at Yangon International Airport, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce were officially welcomed to Yangon by the Chief Minister, U Myint Swe.

Later, at the Taukkyan Commonwealth War Grave, Yangon, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Myanmar regional manager, Commonwealth War Graves Commission, U Thet Mon and Australian volunteer, Brigadier Donald Higgins AM (Rtd), attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General laid a wreath.
