On Sunday 4 March 2007, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery, as guests of the Administrator, Indian Ocean Territories, His Honour Mr Neil Lucas PSM and Mrs Margaret Lucas, arrived in the Territory of Christmas Island as part of an official visit to the Indian Ocean Territories.

In the morning, at the Poon Saan Community Hall, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery attended the Christian Fellowship Church Service, at which the Governor-General read the first lesson. Afterwards, at the Christmas Island Recreation Centre, Their Excellencies, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer of the Shire of Christmas Island, Mrs Margaret Robinson, met members of the Women's Association and senior citizens. In the evening, at Tai Jin House, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery, as guests of honour, attended a Civic Reception hosted by the Administrator, Indian Ocean Territories and Mrs Lucas.
