Swearing-in ceremony; Assent to first Bill; Lunch

On Friday 28 March 2014, at Parliament House, Canberra, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Lynne Cosgrove, attended a ceremony at which General Cosgrove was sworn-in as the twenty-sixth Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Honourable Bronwyn Bishop MP; the Attorney-General, Senator the Honourable George Brandis QC; and the Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mr David Elder, and assented to the first Bill of the Federal Parliament since he assumed the office of Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch.
