Swearing-in Ceremony for the first Abbott Ministry at Government House

At Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General issued the Instrument of Appointment and Oath of Office to newly appointed Prime Minister, the Honourable Tony Abbott MP.

Afterwards, the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Later, the Governor-General issued the Instruments of Appointment of Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries to their respective new offices.

Then, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General issued the Oaths and Affirmations of Office and Executive Councillor to the newly appointed Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries.
