Swearing-in ceremony of the Gillard Ministry

On Tuesday 14 September 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Prime Minister, the Honourable Julia Gillard MP.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General administered the Affirmation of Office as Prime Minister of Australia to Ms Gillard.

Later, the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council and signed the instruments abolishing, establishing and re-naming Departments of State. Then, the Governor-General signed instruments of appointment of Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries to their respective new offices.
