Swearing-in ceremony of new Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries

On Monday 5 March 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received the Prime Minister, the Honourable Julia Gillard MP.

Afterwards, the Governor-General signed instruments of appointment of Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries to their respective new offices.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General issued the Oaths and Affirmations of Office and Executive Councillor to the newly appointed Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries: the Honourable Nicola Louise Roxon MP, Attorney-General, and Minister for Emergency Management; the Honourable Dr Craig Emerson MP, Minister for Trade and Competitiveness; the Honourable Brendan O’Connor MP, Minister for Housing, Minister for Homelessness, and Minister for Small Business; Senator the Honourable Kim Carr, Minister for Human Services; the Honourable Jason Clare MP, Minister for Home Affairs, Minister for Justice, and Minister for Defence Materiel; the Honourable David Bradbury MP, Assistant Treasurer; Senator the Honourable Kate Lundy, Minister for Sport, and Minister for Multicultural Affairs; the Honourable Richard Marles MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs, and Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs; Senator the Honourable Jan McLucas, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, and Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Carers; the Honourable Bernie Ripoll MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer; and the Honourable Sharon Bird MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education and Skills.
