On Friday 15 November 2019, at Admiralty House, Sydney, His Excellency, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) received representatives of Glaucoma Australia including Ms Annie Gibbons, CEO; Associate Professor Simon Skalicky, President; and Mr Kirk Pengilly, Ambassador.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received Ms Alison Page, Aboriginal artist and storyteller, and Councillor, Australian National Maritime Museum, to discuss the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Captain Cook’s arrival in Botany Bay.
Later, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Ms Eileen Hannagan, CEO, visited the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Centre in Camperdown, New South Wales.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Elizabeth McClean, CEO, visited the Allowah Presbyterian Children’s Hospital.
Afterwards, Mrs Hurley received representatives of Paint the Town REaD including Ms Kate Arthur, Chair; Ms Rhonda Brain, Founder and Creative Director; Ms Barbie Bates, Executive Director; Ms Jennifer Hookey, Director; Ms Therese Mathews, Secretary; and Mr Hugh Campbell, Treasurer.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received Mr Andrew Penfold AM, Chief Executive and Co-founder, and Ms Michelle Penfold, Director and Co-founder, of the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation.
In the evening, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mrs Hurley hosted a reception to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Royal Life Saving Society of Australia.
