On Sunday 8 December 2019, at the Australian Golf Club, Sydney, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), as guest of Mr Stuart Cox, Club Captain, the Australian Golf Club, and Mr Stephen Shearer, CEO, the Australian Golf Club, attended the 2019 Emirates Australian Open.

The Governor-General was later joined by Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley for lunch at the Australian Golf Club.

Afterwards, the Governor-General presented the Stonehaven Cup to the 2019 Emirates Australian Open Champion, Mr Matt Jones.
