On Wednesday 8 July 2020, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Lieutenant Commander Jye O'Dell RAN, Regional Senior Military Recruiting Officer, attended an Appointment Ceremony for Mr Shane Phillips at the Defence Force Recruiting Centre, Rhodes.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Sydney, New South Wales to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
