Sydney, New South Wales; East Sale; Sale, Victoria

On Thursday 2 January 2020, Their Excellencies, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, traveled from Sydney to RAAF Base East Sale in Victoria.

There, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Wing Commander James Allen, Base Commander, received a briefing on bushfire response and recovery activities being undertaken by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in East Gippsland.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Commander Paul Taylor, met with members of the Country Fire Authority at the Sale Brigade Station.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to RAAF Base East Sale as guests of Wing Commander Allen where they met with ADF members involved in bushfire response and recovery activities.

In the afternoon, Their Excellencies returned to Sydney.
