On Monday 7 November 2022, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Sydney, New South Wales, to Moree, New South Wales.
On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Mark Johnson, Mayor, Moree Plains Shire Council, receive a briefing on the progress of flood recovery and attended a screening of a short film on the impact of flooding by Sascha Estens.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Johnson, met with students, teachers and the school community at Moree East Public School.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley visited flood affected areas in and around Moree.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Johnson, met with volunteers and emergency service personnel involved in flood response and recovery before attending a lunch with residents, business owners and representatives of relief and response agencies involved in flood recovery efforts.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Jamie McDowall, Principal, met with students and staff of St Philomena's School, Moree.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Moree, New South Wales, to Sydney, New South Wales.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a reception for the Royal Society of NSW.
