Sydney, New South Wales; Sunshine Coast, Queensland; Gold Coast, Queensland

On Tuesday 8 October 2019, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Sydney, New South Wales, to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

Afterwards, at Peregian Beach, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Tony Wellington, Mayor, Noosa Shire Council, received a briefing on the Sunshine Coast bushfires, inspected damage and met with affected property owners.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mayor Wellington, attended a community gathering to meet with those affected by and responders to the Sunshine Coast bushfires.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to the Gold Coast, Queensland.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Greg Christensen, Mayor, Scenic Rim Regional Council, inspected damage caused by the Gold Coast Hinterland bushfires and met with affected property owners in Binna Burra.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mayor Christensen, attended an afternoon tea to acknowledge emergency responders, volunteers and community members involved with the Gold Coast Hinterland bushfires in Canungra.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to Sydney, New South Wales.
