On Saturday 4 November 2017, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms Lynne Wood.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Mrs Elke Büdenbender.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with His Excellency Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Mrs Elke Büdenbender and received: State Secretary and Head, Office of the Federal President of Germany, Mr Stephan Steinlein; Minister of State, Federal Foreign Office, Professor Dr Maria Böhmer; Chairman, Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with Australia and New Zealand, Mr Volkmar Klein; Head of Generation Section, Berlin International Film Festival, Ms Maryanne Redpath; Professor, University of Fine Arts of Hamburg, Dr Friedrich von Borries; Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Australia, Dr Anna Elisabeth Prinz; Director-General for Foreign Affairs, Office of the Federal President of German, Dr Thomas Bagger; Spokesperson, Federal President of Germany, Ms Anna Engelke; Head, President’s Office, Ms Nathalie Kauther; and Head of Division, Office of the Federal President of German, Dr Klaus Vietze.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a State Dinner in honour of His Excellency Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Mrs Elke Büdenbender.
