On Thursday, 12 July 2007, at Customs House Circular Quay Sydney, the Administrator, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO was guest of honour at the Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES) NAIDOC Week Celebration of 40 years since the 1967 Referendum, 50 years of NAIDOC Week and 10 years of the AES.
At the Royal Palace, Laeken, The Kingdom of Belgium, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended a luncheon hosted by His Majesty King Albert II and Her Majesty Queen Paola. In the afternoon, Their Excellencies attended Commemorative Ceremonies at Tyne Cot Cemetery: the inauguration of the monument in memory of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry; the official opening of the Tyne Cot Cemetery Visitors Centre; and a Memorial Service at which the Governor-General laid a wreath at the Cross of Sacrifice. In the evening, at Menin Gate, Ypres, Their Excellencies, as guests of the Mayor of Ypres, Mr Luc Dehaene, attended the Last Post Ceremony, at which the Governor-General delivered an address and laid a wreath.
