On Thursday 17 April 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received the Australian Ambassador-designate to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ms Stephanie Shwabsky.

Later, the Governor-General received a farewell call from the High Commissioner for The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Mr Kusumpala Balapatabendi. In the morning, The Governor-General was represented at Darwin International Airport at the departure from Australia of the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, His Excellency Dr Jose Manual Ramos-Horta, by Brigadier Michael Krause, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
