On Thursday 18 March 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

In the afternoon, at the Centre for the Association for Services to Torture and Trauma Survivors, Perth, the Governor-General, in recognition of Harmony Week, attended a lunch hosted by the Western Australian Office of Multicultural Interests. Afterwards, at The Richardson Hotel, the Governor-General received the Chief Executive Officer of Brightwater Care Group, Dr Penny Flett. In the evening, at Edith Cowan University, Joondalup, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the Vice-Chancellor's Oration on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, at which the Governor-General delivered the keynote address. Earlier, the Governor-General was represented at Brisbane International Airport at the arrival in Australia of the Head of State of the Independent State of Samoa, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, by Group Captain Brian Duddington AM ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
