On Thursday 2 April 2009, in Broken Hill, New South Wales, the Administrator Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE attended a Civic Reception hosted in their honour at the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery. Later, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas, as Joint Patrons, attended a dinner in support of The Royal Flying Doctor Service (South East Section) at the Broken Earth Restaurant.

In the morning, in the Republic of Seychelles, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Minister of Environment, Natural Resources and Transport, Mr Joel Morgan, visited the Roche Caiman Bridge which was rebuilt with Australian assistance after the 2004 tsunami. Afterwards, at the Wharf Hotel, the Governor-General attended a morning tea with the Seychelles Association of Professional Women.
