On Thursday 22 March 2007 at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards at the Langham Hotel, Melbourne, Victoria, the Governor-General received the Chairman, Australian Davos Connection, Mr Michael Roux. In the evening at Cranlana, Toorak, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery, as guests of honour, attended a reception held in support of the National Gallery of Australia Foundation, at which the Governor-General as Patron of the NGA Foundation delivered an address. Afterwards, Their Excellencies attended a dinner hosted by the Chairman of the Council of the NGA, Mr Rupert Myer, AM.
