On Thursday, 23 August 2007, at Royal Canberra Golf Club Yarralumla ACT, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended the Sporting Heads of Mission Golf Day.

In the evening, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mrs??Jeffery hosted a reception for participants in the Sporting Heads of Mission Golf Day, at which Their Excellencies presented the prizes. Earlier, the Governor-General sent a message of sympathy to the President of the Republic of Peru, His Excellency Mr Alan Garcia, following the recent earthquake.
