On Thursday, 27 September 2007, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received from His Excellency Mr Filippos Kritiotis, Letters of Commission accrediting him as High Commissioner for the Republic of Cyprus. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Eleftherios Pilavakis (First Secretary), High Commission for Cyprus. The Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery also received Mrs Andromachi Kritiotou.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Gabor Csaba, Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Bela Bozsik (Counsellor), Embassy of the Republic of Hungary. The Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery also received Mrs Edit Csaba. Later, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Anibal de Castro, Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador of the Dominican Republic. The??Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery also received Mrs Manuela de Castro. In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery hosted to luncheon: the High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus and Mrs Kritiotou; the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary and Mrs Csaba; the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic and Mrs de Castro. Other guests were: Mr Jack Beighton; Ms Gillian Bird; Ms Helen Cox; Mr Kerry Bell; Emeritus Professor Richard Green; Professor Margaret Clunies Ross; the Honourable Nick Greiner AC and Mrs Kathryn Greiner AO; Ms Lyndall McLean AM; the Honourable Jocelyn Newman AO; Mrs Kate Roff; the Honourable Jim Short; and Dr Gregory Teal and Mrs Dominga Mes?n De Teal.
