On Thursday 29 November 2007, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received the Chairman, Memorial(s) Development Committee, Lieutenant Colonel Mike Buick CSM (Retd) accompanied by Rear Admiral Simon Harrington AM RAN (Retd).

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received the Australian Ambassador- designate to the Federative Republic of Brazil, Mr Neil Mules AO. Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Australian Ambassador-designate to the State of Kuwait, Mr Glenn Miles. In the evening, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery, as Patron of the Friends of the ANU School of Music, hosted a musical evening. Earlier, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Kiribati, His Excellency the Honourable Anote Tong MP by Commander R. Dobson RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
