On Thursday 6 May 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Later, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner-designate to Malaysia, Mr Miles Kupa. Then, at the Australian-American Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the Australian-American Association Canberra Division Commemorative Service to mark the 68th Anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea, at which the Governor-General delivered the keynote address and laid a wreath. In the evening, at the National Museum of Australia, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended the Australian Academy of Science Annual Dinner, at which the Governor-General presented the Academy Medal. Earlier, in Woden, Mr Bryce, as Patron, attended a function at the Woden Senior Citizens Club.
