On Thursday, 7 June 2007, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General hosted to lunch: Lieutenant General Peter Leahy AO; Major General John Cantwell AM; Major General Mark Kelly AM; Major General Richard Wilson AM; Major General Ashley Power AM CSC; Major General Ian Flawith CSC; and Mr Gregory Copley. In the afternoon, the Governor-General received the Head Cadet Policy, Department of Defence, Major General Mick Fairweather AM RFD. Earlier, at the Hyatt Hotel, Canberra, Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery delivered the keynote address at the Canberra Ionian Club's 28th Birthday Lunch.
