On Thursday 9 July 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a reception in recognition of Constitution Day and the 60th Anniversary of Australian Citizenship, at which the Governor-General presided at a Citizenship Ceremony and led the Affirmation. Earlier, Mr Bryce, as Patron, received the Chairman of ACT Cricket, Mr John Turner.
