On Thursday 9 October 2008, at The Grand Motel in Mildura, Victoria, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received a municipality briefing by the Mayor of the Mildura Rural City Council, Councillor John Arnold and the Chief Executive Officer of the Mildura Rural City Council, Mr Phil Pearce.

Afterwards, at Red Cliffs Secondary College, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce viewed the College Rock Eisteddfod performance. Later, at Lock 10 Fish Way, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, accompanied by the Officer-in-Charge, New South Wales State Water Corporation, Mr Norm Boyd, viewed the operations on the Fish Ladder. Then, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce visited the Australian Inland Botanical Gardens and as guests of the Mildura Rural City Council, attended a luncheon hosted in their honour. In the afternoon, at the Deakin Avenue Council Chambers, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce received a briefing on the proposed solar array site by Mildura Rural City Councillor, Mr Tom Crouch. Afterwards, at the Council Chambers, the Governor-General met with representatives of the National Rural Women's Coalition, who hosted an afternoon tea. In the evening, at Stefano's Restaurant, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Mayor of Mildura Rural City Council, Councillor John Arnold and Chief Executive Officer of Mildura Rural City Counctil, Mr Phil Pearce, attended a dinner hosted in their honour.
