Thursday Island, Horn Island, RAAF Base Scherger; QLD

On Saturday 11 August 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, met with staff and patients at Thursday Island Hospital, as guests of Mr Andy Marshall, Executive General Manager.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove travelled to Friday Island and viewed operations at Kazu Pearl Farm, as guests of Mr Takami Kazuyoshi, Owner Operator.

Then, Their Excellencies attended a lunch with Councillor Vonda Malone, Mayor, Torres Shire Council.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove travelled to Horn Island and visited historic World War II trenches as guests of Mrs Vanessa Seekee OAM, Manager of the Torres Strait Heritage Museum.

In the afternoon, Their Excellencies returned to Australia via RAAF Base Scherger, where they met with Australian Air Force Cadets from No 112 Squadron.
