On Friday 28 July 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Brigadier Dean Thompson, Commander 16th Aviation Brigade, met with members of 5th Aviation. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from RAAF Townsville to the Townsville Field Training Area.

On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Colonel Ben McLennan CSC and Bar, visited the Combat Training Centre and met with Australian and foreign troops over morning tea.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from the Townsville Field Training Area to the 3rd Brigade Headquarters.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Brigadier David McCammon DSM and Bar, Commander 3rd Brigade, visited and met with members of the 3rd Brigade Headquarters.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from the 3rd Brigade Headquarters to Force Support Group Role 2 Enhanced.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Major Kelsey Hamsey, visited Force Support Group Role 2 Enhanced.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Force Support Group Role 2 Enhanced to the Ingham Showgrounds.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Lieutenant Colonel Sven Harris, visited the 1st Australian Division 0A Node.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from the Ingham Showgrounds to the 5th Aviation Regiment.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Mary Jo Capps AM, Chair, attended the opening night of the 2023 Australian Festival of Chamber Music.
