On Tuesday 15 April 2008, at Government House, Canberra, Their Excellencies the Governor-General, Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery received a farewell call from the High Commissioner for Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Mr Mohd Sahrip Othman, and Mrs Norhashimah Sawal.

In the afternoon, at the Department of Veterans' Affairs, Woden, the Governor-General officially launched the Fundraising Initiatives for the Repatriation Commission's 90th Anniversary. In the evening, at the Australian Defence College, Weston Creek, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mrs Jeffery attended the United Services Institute Patron's Dinner, where the Governor-General presented the keynote address. In the morning, at St Michael's Uniting Church, Melbourne, the Governor-General was represented at the State Funeral Service for the late the Honourable John Norman Button, by Captain Michael Miko, RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp. Later, at Darwin International Airport at the departure from Australia of the Interim President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, the Honourable Fernando Lasama de Araugo, by Captain Vaughn Rixon, CSC, RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp. Earlier, at the Southern Cross Club, Woden, Mrs Jeffery attended the Arawang Ladies Probus Club monthly meeting, where she presented the keynote address.
