On Tuesday 15 May 2007, at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, Their Excellencies the Governor-General, Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended a ceremony to dedicate the Pacific Islands Regiment Commemorative Plaque and the New Guinea Volunteer Rifles/Australia New Guinea Administrative Unit Commemorative Plaque, at which the Governor-General delivered an address.

Afterwards, at Russell Offices, Russell ACT the Governor-General attended a luncheon hosted by the Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston AO AFC. Later, at Australian Defence Force Academy, Campbell ACT, the Governor-General, as Patron of Royal United Services Institute of Australia, attended an ADC-RUSI Seminar workshop.
