On Tuesday 17 June 2008, at the ANZAC Memorial Chapel of St Paul, Royal Military College of Australia, Duntroon, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended the funeral of the late General Sir Francis Hassett AC KBE CD DSO LVO, at which the Governor-General delivered the eulogy.
In the evening, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery hosted a reception for members of the House of Representatives, at which the Governor-General received the Address-in-Reply from the Speaker of the House. Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery hosted a dinner for the Federal Ministry.
