On Tuesday 21 October 2008, at Burrumbuttock, NSW, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE toured the Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre and attended a morning tea with local farmers and councillors.

Afterwards, at Charles Sturt University Thurgoona Campus, Albury, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General officially opened the Academic AA3 Building. Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce received a briefing on water management and current environmental research projects. In the afternoon, at Lake Hume, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Deputy Director-General of Water Management NSW Water and Energy, Mr David Harriss, and the Officer in Charge of Hume Dam, Mr Graeme Hinde, toured the lower Hume Dam wall.
