On Tuesday 27 October 2009, in Gosford, New South Wales, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, in recognition of Children's Week, attended a ceremony at Gosford East Primary School at which the Governor-General officially opened the Lions Rehabilitation Activity Centre.
Afterwards, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a lunch in honour of His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex. Guests included: Her Excellency the Right Honourable Baroness Valerie Amos; Dr Natasha Mayne; Mr Derek McDowall; Mrs Judith Poole; Mr Tim Scouller; and Brigadier John Smedley. In the afternoon, the Governor-General, as Patron of the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Australia, and Mr Bryce hosted a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Ceremony. Later, the Governor-General hosted a reception for the board members of the Australian Foundation for Mental Health Research.
