On Tuesday 8 June 2010, at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, attended the Warren Centre's 2010 Innovation Lecture for high school children.

In the afternoon, at the Australian Museum, Sydney, the Administrator attended a reception in celebration of the Macquarie Visions 2010 Australian of the Year recipients. In the evening, at Doltone House, Pyrmont, the Administrator, as a guest of The Australian Society for Medical Research, attended the Society's Medical Research Week dinner. Earlier, at the Shanghai World Exposition 2010, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE toured the Australian Pavilion. Afterwards, at the Exposition Centre, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended an Official Australian National Day ceremony at which the Governor-General presented an address. In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Pavilion Director and the Australian Deputy Commissioner-General in Shanghai, Mr Peter Sams, attended the Australian Pavilion National Day lunch. Afterwards, at the Exposition Centre Great Hall, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended the Australian National Day Concert. Later, at the Australian Pavilion, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested the Australian Commissioner-General in Shanghai, Ms Lyndall Sachs PSM, with the Public Service Medal. Then, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a reception in celebration of the Australia-China commercial relationship. In the evening, at the United Kingdom Pavilion, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Pavilion Director, Ms Lorna Miles, toured the United Kingdom Pavilion.
