Tweed Heads, QLD; Murwillumbah, QLD

On Wednesday 12 April 2017, at Elevation Church, Tweed Heads, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), attended the funeral service for the late Stephanie King and her children Ella Jane and Jacob.

Afterwards, at the Murwillumbah Community Centre, the Governor-General, as guest of the Mayor of the Tweed Shire Council, Councillor Katie Milne, visited the Murwillumbah Flood Recovery Centre and met with volunteers and members of the public. The Murwillumbah Flood Recovery Centre was established following the flooding caused by Tropical Cyclone Debbie and provides a place for affected residents, businesses and farmers to access recovery assistance from a range of agencies and organisations.

Earlier, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Baron Waqa, and Madam Louisa Waqa by Group Captain Glen Braz ADC, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
