US Embassy; Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience
On Wednesday 4 December 2013, at the Embassy of the United States of America, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Ambassador, His Excellency Mr John Berry and Mr Curtis Yee, attended a morning tea to mark the 70th anniversary of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt’s visit to Canberra in 1943, at which the Governor-General planted a red box gum.
Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor-General hosted a reception for members of the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) and met with the winners of ‘The Other Election’ competition, Mr Jayden Gerrand, Mr Shannan Hart-Cole and Miss Danae Hayes.
In the evening, the Governor-General was represented at Brisbane International Airport at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Baron Divavesi Waqa MP, by Brigadier Greg Bilton CSC ADC, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
