Vietnam Veterans' Remembrance Day Service; 45th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan and the presentation of the Unit Citation for Gallantry to Delta Company, 6 Royal Australian Regiment

On Thursday 18 August 2011, at the Australian Vietnam Forces National Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended the Vietnam Veterans’ Remembrance Day Service, at which the Governor-General delivered the first reading and laid a wreath.

Afterwards, at Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera, Queensland, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, and in recognition of the 45th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan, presented the Unit Citation for Gallantry to Delta Company, 6 Royal Australian Regiment. The Governor-General also presented: the Meritorious Unit Citation to the 1st Mentoring Task Force; the Medal of Gallantry to Second Lieutenant David Sabben MG, Warrant Officer Class Two Kevin Dolan MG, and Lance Corporal Brendan Clarke MG; the Distinguished Service Medal to Captain Fabian Harrison DSM and Corporal Russell Goodsell DSM; the Commendation for Distinguished Service to Major Justin Roderick and Corporal Garry Francis; and the Conspicuous Service Medal to Major Graham Palmer CSM.
