Visit to an Australian Customs vessel; Broome Medical Clinic; Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service Clinic; Yawuru Traditional Owners; Broome Civic Reception
On Wednesday 10 August 2011, at the Port of Broome, Western Australia, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of Commander Border Protection Command, Rear Admiral Timothy Barrett AM CSC RAN, visited an Australian Customs vessel.
Afterwards, in Broome, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Chairman of the Eye Foundation, Ms Jacinta Spurett, and the Team Leader, Associate Professor Angus Turner, visited the Broome Medical Clinic, at which the Governor-General officially launched the Kimberley Diabetic Eye Care Program.
Later, at the Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service Clinic, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Council, met with doctors, nurses and staff.
Then, at Minyir Park, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with Yawuru Traditional Owners.
In the evening, at the Broome Council Chambers, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the President of the Shire of Broome, Councillor Graeme Campbell, attended a civic reception.
